Alik Smed, of Albert Lea, received the JFT O’Connor student scholarship from the University of North Dakota for the 2011-12 academic year. Smed, son of Mark and Karen Smed, graduated from Albert Lea High School and plans to attend UND in the fall. The JFT O’Connor Student Scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated superior academic excellence.
