The 48th Jorgen Hansen reunion was held July 17, at the Anderson family farm, near London. The Clara (Hansen) Anderson families were the hosts. They were Ila Anderson, Richard Anderson, Shirley, Steve and Stephanie Fingerson and Donna and Roe Naylor.
A potluck dinner was served to 60 family members and one guest, who braved the 91-degree heat with a heat index of 110 degrees. A business meeting was held and the happenings since July 2010 read. Discussion centered on what to do to make the 50th reunion special for 2013 and a family cookbook. Also, everyone is to design a logo and to be brought to next year’s reunion so we can vote for the best one to be put on a T-shirt/souvenir for the 50th reunion. The happenings were five births: Tegan Dean Weber, son of Josh Weber and Katie Mellum; Henry Christopher and Oskar Jeffrey Helle-Morrissey, twin sons to Mitchell and Jessica Helle-Morrissey; Brody Raymond Helle, son to Brian and April Helle; Elliot Penning, son to Thomas and Alix Penning. Two marriages: Nichole Kielb to Brian Smith and Steve Weber to Jackie Clark. Other happenings included Caroline Thurston graduated from high school, John Mudra, Alysa Hansen and Laura Kim graduated college, Gina Richardson and Norma VanEsch graduated with LPN nursing degrees. Arleigh Austinson retired.
The oldest member present was eldest grandchild, Evelyn Ferber and youngest was great-great-grandchildren: Titus and Naomi Russell, children to Robin and Mark Russell, all of Albert Lea.
Attendees came from Albert Lea, Austin, Brownsdale, Rochester, Lyle, Eagan with Barney and Lorraine Penning of Grand Rapids and Steve and Jackie Weber of Fayetteville, Tenn., coming the farthest.
The 2012 reunion will be held the third Sunday in July, hosted by the descendents of the Marie (Hansen) Mudra and the Alfred Hansen families.
