Memorial services for Helen Marie Springborg, 92, of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Helen died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Helen Marie Springborg was born on June 28, 1919, to Andrew and Lillian (Spoon) Anderson in Pickerel Lake Township. She grew up on a farm in Pickerel Lake Township. Helen graduated from Albert Lea High School. In the 1940s she was united in marriage to Elmer Springborg. Helen and Elmer worked together running several gas stations, rebuilding homes and managing apartment complexes in Arizona and California. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. Helen spent many of her earlier years caring for Elmer after he was injured. She was a very caring and nurturing person and loved helping others as much as she could. Helen loved gardening, cooking and was an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing with her family.
Survivors include her grandchildren: Scott and Nicole Springborg and their daughter, Ariana, Justin and Sarah Rule; daughter-in-law, Karen Springborg and Robert and Mona Springborg.
Helen was preceded in death her parents; husband, Elmer; son, Richard; sisters: Ruth Gentzhorn and Alice; and brothers: Paul, Lyle and Alvin Anderson.
