Linda Jensen, 62, Fort Smith, Ark.

Linda Jensen, 62, passed away Friday, July 22, 2011, at Peachtree Palliative Care in Fort Smith, Ark. Linda was born Oct. 3, 1948, to Eleanor and Leo Pedersen in Albert Lea. She was raised on a farm in southern Minnesota outside of Alden and graduated from Alden High School in 1966 and received her associate’s degree from Austin Jr. College in 1968. On Sept. 14, 1968, she married Harold Jensen and moved to the Twin Cities to raise a family. In 1983 she and Harold moved to Danville, Ky., in 1993 they moved to Bristol, Tenn., in 1998 they moved to Oklahoma City, and then in 2003 they moved to Fort Smith, Ark.

Linda had many hobbies, such as, being a lifelong voracious reader, especially mysteries, she loved to cook and sew, loved cookbooks with a collection of hundreds of books, knitted blankets for grandchildren of friends, wrote poetry, volunteered at local hospitals and taught mah-jongg to the community at the library. She had a sharp dry wit and loved to give embarrassing greeting cards, yet was a private person.

She is survived by her husband, Harold of Fort Smith, Ark.; her parents: Eleanor and Leo Pedersen of Alden; two sons: Scott Jensen of St. Paul and Darrick Jensen and his wife Jerilynn of Minneapolis; her sister, Donna (Pedersen) Hill and her husband Darrell, of Woodbury; and one nephew, Bradley Hill and his wife, Sarah.

Memorial service will be Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
