Railroad crossings being replaced

Motorists will encounter a detour on Broadway Avenue in Albert Lea beginning Monday as Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern Railroad crews construct a new railroad crossing.
Construction of the new crossing is expected to last one week, weather permitting.
The detour will require motorists to take Front Street to Newton Avenue, then back to Highway 65.
The DM&E’s tracks cross Broadway Avenue just to the north of where the Union Pacific’s tracks cut across the junction of Broadway Avenue and Front Street.
Expect Wedgewood Road to be closed between Highway 13 and Will-O-Bruce Drive today and Wednesday as DM&E crews replace the railroad crossing.
The same work crew replaced the railroad crossing on Lake Chapeau Drive on Monday and are finishing that work today.
