A 27-year-old St. Ansgar, Iowa, woman was arrested Tuesday in Albert Lea after she reportedly used false names to obtain prescription medications.
According to a news release, a local pharmacist contacted a Freeborn County Drug Task Force agent at about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, stating the pharmacy had received information of a woman who had used a false name to check into the clinic and visit with the doctor.
The woman had reportedly gone to three different pharmacies to get the prescription of Tramadol filled.
A drug task force agent found the woman, along with her 4-year-old son, waiting for the prescription to be filled at a local pharmacy.
The news release states the woman admitted to the agent that she used a relative’s name the day before to obtain a prescription for Hydrocodone at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, and she had used the same name Tuesday to get the prescription for Tramadol.
The agent reportedly discovered the woman has actually used at least four different names to obtain prescription drugs in other counties.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was arrested for fifth-degree drug crimes and is being held in the Freeborn County jail pending a court appearance this morning.
She has a long history of similar crimes in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa and is currently on probation for the offenses, according to the release.
