You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.

Delivery of monthly grocery boxes: Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors, also known as NAPS, needs three volunteers to help deliver groceries for an hour or two. You can help keep seniors eating healthy foods and living independently with these deliveries the second Wednesday of each month. Please call Pat at Senior Resources 377-7433 to help us.

Glenville-Emmons, Alden-Conger and Albert Lea elementary schools: Your help is needed at these elementary schools during the back to school parent-teacher-student orientations encouraging parents to pick up their copies of the Out of School Activity Guide and the Community Resource Booklet. This just involves sitting near the information table at the door visiting with parents as they come and go. The dates are: Aug. 30 and 31 late afternoon/evening in Alden; Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 morning through evening in Albert Lea; and Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Glenville. Call Pat at 377-7433 to sign up for your shift or more.
