The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Reading Partners: School resumes in a few weeks; children will need adults to help them develop reading skills. Give an hour or two a week to help one child gain skill and confidence as a reader. Training is provided in early September so all you need than a love of reading and a concern for children. Call Pat at 377-7433 to be a Reading Partner.
Crime Victims Crisis Center: Be part of the Freeborn County Crisis Response Team. Members are available to help area residents who have faced a disaster. The training series of three sessions runs this September and October. To get an application form and apply now, contact Michele at 377-5461 to help neighbors in distress because, you can help.
Delivery of monthly grocery boxes: Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS) needs three volunteers to help deliver groceries for an hour or two once a month. You can help keep seniors eating healthy foods and living independently with these deliveries the second Wednesday. Please call Pat at Senior Resources 377-7433 to help us.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
