SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Mayo Clinic has announced the first expansion of its Minnesota medical school, a campus in Arizona.
The clinic is collaborating with Arizona State University to offer students a specialized master’s degree in health care delivery from ASU concurrently with a medical degree from Mayo Medical School.
The program will take $266 million in endowment funds to cover scholarships and operations, and the earliest the program could be offered is 2014.
The schools project initial enrollment at 48.
The Arizona branch of the Rochester-based school will be at Mayo’s Scottsdale campus east of Phoenix in existing buildings that will have to be remodeled.
