What do you call it when a president gets up and tells the country that the rich don’t pay as much in taxes as the rest of the people? The statistics from the IRS and Congressional Budget Office show that the rich pay more in actual dollars and by percentage of income.

The president is either not informed enough of the facts and he made a mistake or he is trying to cause problems between classes of wage earners.

In either case we have a problem. The government raised taxes on expensive boats a few years ago and people quit buying new boats so companies lay off workers. Some tax changes have unintended consequences. We need to eliminate tax loopholes but we need to know the consequences of our actions.
