The Albert Lea High School choir and orchestra students will present their first concert of the year on Nov. 4. The concert will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea at 6 and 8 p.m. to accommodate the traditionally large crowd.
The concert will feature the Tiger Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra, directed by Rebekah Crissinger. The Concert Choir, Varsity Choir and Tiger Choir will be directed by Diane Heaney.
The Tiger Orchestra will perform “A Fiddle Finger Frenzy” and “An Irish Pastoral Melody.” The Symphony Orchestra will perform a variety of music including two movements from the well-known “Carnival of the Animals” and a baroque piece by Henry Purcell.
All three choirs will perform both secular and sacred works. The Tiger Choir, of eighth- and ninth-graders, will sing folk songs from Israel, Tanzania and the United States. The Varsity Choir will share folk songs from the Philippines and Africa. The Concert Choir will sing the famous “Ave Maria” with harp accompaniment. They will join the orchestra to perform “Hallelujah Chorus” by Handel. The finale piece will be “God Bless America” with all the choirs singing.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students and are available at the door. There will also be a $35 family music concert pass sold at the door that will admit a family to all regular orchestra, band and choir concerts for the whole school year.
