Bernard Nolan, 92, Hartland

Funeral services for Bernard William Nolan, 92, of Hartland, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, Hartland. The Rev. Dennis Frank will officiate. Interment will be in the Hartland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. You are welcome to leave online condolences at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Bernie died on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

Bernard Nolan

Bernard “Bernie” William Nolan was born on June 26, 1919, in Hartland, the son of Bernard and Cora (Hanson) Nolan. He went to the Freeborn School through the eighth grade and, later in life, received his GED. On May 1, 1945, Bernie was united in marriage to Mildred Brandt at the Bath Catholic Church. Bernie was a lifelong resident of Hartland. He was a blacksmith in his younger days, worked as a mechanic for John Deere, was the head mechanic for Ulland Brothers, and had owned his own gas station and repair shop. Bernie was a member of the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church. He was an operating engineer for the Teamsters Union, Local 49. Bernie was an avid gardener and loved fixing things, working and just tinkering. He was a friend to all, and everyone liked him. Blessed be his memory.

Survivors include his children Bernard “Butch” (Carolyn) Nolan, Susan (Randall) Kapaun, Angela Nolan, Franklin Nolan and special friend Jolene Dillemuth, and John Nolan; grandchildren Mark (Kim) Nolan, Scott (Lisa) Nolan, Jenny (Steve) Margarine, Ronald (Trisha) Kapaun, John Kapaun, Benjamin Carpenter, Matthew Carpenter, Rhonda (Jeff) Bryant, David (Onnah) Nolan, Nathan Nolan, and Amanda Nolan; many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mildred, his grandson Thomas Kapaun, brothers Tom and Buster, and his sister Veronica.
