LANSING — A piece of Lansing history could soon thrive again.

Kathy McKenzie of Centuria, Wis., will open Lansing Corners, a restaurant four miles north of Austin on Highway 218, as a steakhouse, catering to high-end customers. McKenzie will lease the property from Dave Olson of Austin for the first year, and will have a buy out option after that.

Construction could delay the supper club’s opening, although McKenzie hopes to open the doors in January or February.

McKenzie said quite a few people have expressed excitement about the restaurant reopening.

Lansing Corners has been vacant since Ron and Karen Valentine closed the restaurant in 2008, citing health reasons and the economy. Lansing corners originally opened in 1938 as a gas station and diner.
