A Freeborn County District Court judge on Monday sentenced an Albert Lea man to community service and up to 10 years probation for selling marijuana to a drug task informant.

Judge Steve Schwab also sentenced the man, Eric Richard Meyer, 35, to 130 days in the Freeborn County jail. However, because Meyer was already in custody from April through the middle of August on the charges, he has already served that term.

He pleaded guilty in August to four counts of fifth-degree marijuana sales in exchange for having six cocaine sales charges dropped.

According to court documents, Meyer sold about 37 grams of marijuana to the informant from a house on Channel Road on different occasions in November and December 2010.

Schwab also ordered Meyer to complete a chemical assessment and to follow the recommendations given in it. He must complete 80 hours of community service.

He must remain law abiding, not possess or use mood-altering chemicals, comply with random drug testing, comply with probation, submit a DNA sample, maintain employment, complete a psychological evaluation and complete a cognitive skills test.
