Richard McGuire, 83, Glenville

Memorial service for Richard Denny McGuire, 83, of Glenville, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Deb Miller will officiate. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Glenville. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. before the service on Oct. 29. Military honors will be accorded.

Richard passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society.

Richard McGuire

Richard, who was the youngest of 14, was born on May 16, 1928, in Prosper Township, Lake of the Woods County, to Reynolds and Mary (Campbell) McGuire. Growing up he learned to hunt and fish and both became an important part of his life. As a young teenager he and his parents moved out west to work in the shipyards during World War II, until at age 17, when he enlisted in the Navy, during this time he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. He worked construction and drove semi trucks for many years.

Richard was united in marriage to Patricia Kabrud on April 2, 1955, in Northwood, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Patricia; children, Glen Ruediger (Judy Cowell) of Spanoway, Wash., LeAnn Neilon (Gary Edstrom, special friend), of Glenville, Dan McGuire, Nancy (Mark) Smith all of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Marnie (Ray) Fjelstad of Glenville, Jamie Neilon (Tracy Dahlum) of Gordonsville, Iowa, Mia (Tony) Olson of International Falls, Brian McGuire of Williams, Mathew McGuire of Williams, Mike (Sara) McGuire of Glenville, Chris (Christina) Jepson of Albert Lea, Nick Jepson (special friend Brandi Hagen) of Albert Lea; step granddaughter, Nancy Kuethe of Alden; seven great-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren; many very special nieces, nephews and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Reynolds and Mary McGuire; mother and father-in-law, Ernest and Hannah Kabrud; brothers: Clifford, Lloyd, Harley, Theodore, Murrel, Arnold and one in infancy; sisters: Ellen, Mae, Nora, Clara, Ida and Katherine.

Richard loved spending time with his family and friends and he will be deeply missed by all. Blessed be his memory.
