Farmers State Bank of Hartland is pleased to announce that Peter Scheffert has joined the bank as a loan officer at the Freeborn branch. Scheffert will be working with agriculture customers on their financing needs.
”I am excited about the opportunity to work in a great region with wonderful farmers,” said Scheffert.
Scheffert brings experience and a strong background to the bank. Most recently he was at the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. He was executive director of the Minnesota Rural Finance Authority and division director for the Ag Development and Financial Assistance division. Previously, he spent 11 years with Riverland Community College in Austin. There he was an academic dean and instructor with the farm business management program. Earlier in his career he was an extension educator with the University of Minnesota Extension Service. He also worked overseas for two years in Botswana, Africa. There he helped to grow youth development programs (4-B, like 4-H) with the Ministry of Agriculture. Scheffert grew up on a farm in the Waseca area and enjoys going back to keep his agriculture roots intact.
“With my passion for agriculture, I look forward to helping strengthen ag in southern Minnesota,” said Scheffert. “Please stop in and say hello.”
