This year a new initiative began to connect the high school and elementary schools. The fall sports captains went to Sibley, Lakeview, Halverson, Hawthorne and St. Theodore elementary schools to spend time with the students before Homecoming Week.

The students did a wide range of activities at the schools including reading books to students, talking with students about sports and other activities, talking to students about leadership and interacting with students during recess.

Many of the captains visited schools they had attended as elementary students and remarked that they enjoyed being able to talk to younger students. The program with the captains will continue and the next trip to the schools will be during Winterfest Week.
