You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Salvation Army Food Pantry: You can help nourish families and individuals in Freeborn County by volunteering at the Salvation Army food pantry. Two volunteers are needed from 12:30 to 4:15 p.m. every Friday to distribute food boxes of about 25 pounds. Whole grain breads, fresh fruits and vegetables are added to each box. Come try it out by shadowing another helper. You and a friend can set a schedule for Fridays that works for you or offer to be an on-call helper. Please call Angie at the Salvation Army at 373-8776.
Senior Companions: Be a friend to a frail senior, helping in various ways like visiting, shopping, taking to medical appointments, etc. Your commitment is for 15 hours a week; those who meet income guidelines get a stipend in addition to mileage reimbursement.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
