HOPKINS  — Authorities say two people have been hurt when the motorcycle they were on crashed during an illegal ride on the Regional Bike Trail near the Hopkins-St. Louis Park border.

Hopkins police responded to a report of a motorcycle crash about 7:15 a.m. Sunday and found a 24-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman lying injured next to Minnehaha Creek.

Hopkins police Sgt. Michael Glassberg said the pair and their motorcycle had fallen 32 feet from a trail bridge.

Police said unsafe speed appears to have been a factor in the crash. The injured pair were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. They were not identified.
