Duluth protesters to comply with eviction as group

DULUTH — Occupy Duluth protesters say they will comply as a group with an eviction notice. But some individual members may ignore the city’s order.

Duluth police served the notice on protesters earlier this week, giving them until late tonight to remove their tents from a downtown plaza or face arrest.

Occupy Duluth spokesman Tyler Nord said members have applied for a city permit to keep at least one tent up at the plaza, and that the group will remain at the site for months to come.

But Nord and others hinted that individual members might ignore demands to disband the camp.

Duluth Police Chief Gordon Ramsay said the camp had “become a major distraction at City Hall” that was also taxing the police force.
