We are glad the community has a high interest in our reporter who is going to Kuwait.

However, we urge people to support our troops in more ways than reading about them. Get out and volunteer for the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon chapter here in Albert Lea.

Families of soldiers who are deployed need help with lawn care, snow removal, babysitting and running errands.

Many people want to send care packages with music and cookies and goodies. But the soldiers’ thoughts are always of their loved ones back home, and they appreciate the assistance people give more than the givers ever realize.
