The Freemond Madson Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 447 met Nov. 14 at the American Legion Hall. President Eunice Hatleli welcomed First District Auxiliary Senior Vice President Sondra Rowe from the Owatonna Auxiliary which was present to inspect the auxiliary.
A thank you was read from the Freeborn County REACT Club which included a page of comments from the folks that had enjoyed the Labor Day I-35 safety break stop and the cookies we had baked. They stated 33 states, two provinces, four foreign countries and more had enjoyed the hospitality.
Marilyn Danielson, Voice of Democracy and Patriot Pen chairman, was present and announced the winner was Annabelle Randall, of Hollandale. The Patriot Pen winners will be announced at our 6 p.m. Dec. 12 post and auxiliary pot luck dinner and meeting at 7 p.m. Awards will be given.
A contribution was made to the Silver Bay veterans recreation camping fishing trip near Ely.
The First District VFW meetings will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, the Austin VFW Post 1216 at 9:30 a.m. A “Buddy Poppy” display contest will be held. Auxiliary sisters will be meeting next door at the Union Center. Department guard, Millie Lauer, from Princeton, will be the Department Representative. They will honor past department and past district presidents. District President Patricia Sable, of Owatonna, will conduct the meeting.
Eunice Hatleli served lunch. Marilyn Danielson won the door prize.
