Hazel Yokiel, 96, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Hazel C. Yokiel, of Albert Lea, will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. Timothy T. Reker and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church.

Hazel died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society. She was 96 years old.

Hazel was born Jan. 24, 1915, in Faribault, County, the daughter of Carl and Elizabeth (Urbian) Schroeder. She graduated from Alden High School. Hazel married Leo E. Yokiel Sr. in 1933. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family get-togethers, especially Thanksgiving and Easter. She loved flowers and gardening, playing cards with her many friends.

Hazel is survived by her sons: David (Shirley) Yokiel of Albert Lea and Leo E. (Judith) Yokiel Jr of Newton, Iowa; grandchildren: Rick, Jeff, and Sara Yokiel; great-grandchildren: Emily, Amanda, Molly, Brad, Bobbi, Shannon, Mara and Lilly; great-great-grandson: Kasson; special nephew, Steve Riemer, and his wife and daughters.

Hazel is preceded in death by her parents: Carl and Elizabeth Schroeder; husband, Leo E. Yokiel Sr.; son, Paul Yokiel; brother, Marvin; sister, Viola; granddaughter, Lori Lee; nephew, Dean Schroeder; cousins: nieces and nephews.

Hazel was a very giving person and will always be remembered for her loving heart.
