How to change the political game

I never liked the old expression “I’m sick and tired.” My mother used it almost incessantly. But, with the unholy mess in Washington, I really am sick and tired.

My mother also often said, “If you can’t say something good about something or somebody, don’t say anything.” OK, I can think of four ways that we, the electorate, can help.

Firstly, for the next two elections, other than the residency, don’t vote to re-elect an incumbent. This will clean house on all the old “geezers” who accrue to much power and abuse the system. Secondly, demand legislation whereby other than bimonthly debates, politics will not be discussed on television. Can you imagine what television will be like over the next 11 months? Thirdly, vote to close up the Senate chambers completely and reapportion the house whereby every state (irregardless of size) will send five members to Washington. This will take away the unfair advantage that the large states have, and do away with the Electoral College. Fourthly, let’s ah, oh, do, do, sorry, I forgot. I’ll have to get back to you on this one.

Have a good day.
