MINNEAPOLIS — It’s time for Minnesota motorists to remember their safe winter driving skills.

With snow forecast for parts of Minnesota this weekend, MnDOT is urging drivers to be patient and drive according to road conditions.

Motorists are reminded to give snowplows plenty of room. MnDOT says motorists should stay back at least five car lengths behind the plow.

In Minneapolis, city street crews are on standby to clear snow. The Department of Public Works has been converting many of its heavy vehicles from fall to winter use.

Minneapolis has more than 1,500 miles of streets, parkways and alleys that would need plowing if it snows.

St. Paul officials are reminding residents they are required to shovel their sidewalks within 24 hours of a snowfall.
