P.M. Report: Preschool evacuated

Children and staff at The Children’s Center, 605 James Ave., were evacuated from the building Wednesday afternoon after staff noticed an unfamiliar odor coming from the basement.

Kim Nelson, executive director at The Children’s Center, said staff called Alliant Energy in between 1:30 and 1:45 p.m. Children were taken to the community room at Trailside Apartments and were allowed to return to the building at about 2 p.m.

Two cited for drunken driving

Police cited Marie Whitney Karow for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated, no proof of insurance and a stop sign violation after a traffic stop near the intersection of South Broadway Avenue and East Fifth Street at 12:22 a.m. today, according to reports.

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies cited Darin Douglas Finley for third-degree driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop at 11:11 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Minnesota Highway 251 and 800th Avenue, west of Hollandale, reports stated.

House broken into

A house was reported broken into at 90862 Freeborn County Road 36, just west of the Freeborn County and Mower County line at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday, according to reports.
