Again this year The Salvation Army would like to extend an invitation to the community of Freeborn County to join together for a Thanksgiving Dinner on Wednesday from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Fairlane Community Center, 1031 Bridge Ave., located in the Freeborn County Fairgrounds.

Community organizers of this annual event state that this meal is intentionally on the day before the traditional Thanksgiving because they want to celebrate this meal with the entire community. “We want to have the feel of going to ‘Grandma’s’ and celebrating with our families,” continues Capt. Jim Brickson. This meal is not to single out just the less fortunate but to be inclusive of all of those that want to be family.

We are blessed with volunteers from our community who want to help with this meal and we welcome the support, however we also want everyone to be able to participate in the event. “We are extremely grateful to the volunteers who continue to take time out of their daily routine to help their neighbors,” comments Brickson.
