Wendell C. Johnson, 75, of Inver Grove Heights, formerly of Albert Lea, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Nov. 4, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by parents, Godfrey and Julia; brother, the Rev. Chester Johnson.

He is survived by daughters, Julie (Stephen) Murphy of Las Vegas and Holly (Douglas) Crocker of Inver Grove Heights; grandchildren, Brandon and Jillian; sisters, Joyce Johnson and Carolyn Talbert; sister-in-law, Patricia Johnson; also niece and nephews.

Wendell served two years with the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. He was a teacher and track coach in the Albert Lea School District.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Augustana Lutheran Church, 1400 Robert St. So. West St. Paul. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Roberts Funeral Home, 8108 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights and from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at church. Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
