Albert Lea blanketed in snow

Albert Lea received about 4 to 6 inches of snow in a storm that blanketed the region in white Saturday, making winter’s presence visible.

The storm brought the white stuff from the southwest to the northeast, at first dropping a mist, turning to light snow around 1 p.m. and becoming heavy snow by 4 p.m.

Roads were difficult to drive on Saturday, with people taking a full hour extra to get from the Twin Cities to Albert Lea.

Saturday morning began with a blanket of fog and a light mist. The storm didn’t bring much for wind. Most of the day the wind was calm, and the fastest the wind became was 7 mph around 3:30 p.m.

Don’t expect it to melt. The high for Sunday is 27 degrees, for Monday 22 degrees and Tuesday 21 degrees.
