Authorities still investigating Ellendale fire

ELLENDALE — The investigation is ongoing into the Dec. 7 fire in Ellendale that destroyed a family’s home.

Kristine Chapin, public information officer with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, said investigators are still on scene at 403 Fifth Ave. W. at the former home of Mark and Sara Misgen.

Two separate fires started at the house in the early morning of Dec. 7. The second ultimately destroyed the house, leaving it blackened and uninhabitable.

Authorities have not stated whether the fires were related or if any foul play was involved.

Chapin said interviews are still being conducted.

She expected the investigation to continue for a few more weeks.
