Humane Society could use help

The Freeborn County Humane Society is looking for some committed volunteers to help at the shelter. At this time we are in need of people to help with dog chores. Days needed are Sunday mornings, Tuesday though Friday mornings. Those interested in helping will need to be extremely comfortable handling all types and size and breeds of dogs. We would need to have a commitment from volunteers for a specific day each week or a specific day every other week or once a month.

Sunday mornings are especially in need right now. You will need to be able to work independently after as much training is done until a comfort level is reached. Dog chores will require you to let each dog outside, clean and disinfect its kennel, give food and fresh water, and return dog to its kennel.

There can be as many as 17 dogs or as few as eight. Time commitment is generally two to four hours depending on how many dogs are there and how much playtime you would like to have with each dog. We have a fenced-in area where they are let out to do their toilet duties. If you are interested in learning more about what’s involved, please contact me directly at 507-383-1096 or stop down and visit with me at the shelter located in Frank Hall Park.
