The Albert Lea boys’ hockey team lost another key member of its team on Thursday to a potential season-ending injury in a 4-2 loss to St. Michael-Albertville.

Senior forward Brady Falk broke his wrist during the first period of semifinal matchup of the Rochester Kiwanis Hockey Festival.

According to Tigers coach Roy Nystrom, Falk was told by doctors in Rochester the injury would likely end his high school career.

Falk is Albert Lea’s ninth regular varsity player to join the injury this season.

“I’ve never had a season like this where we’ve been plagued by so many injuries,” Nystrom said. “Half of the team is out of the lineup but the guys that are playing are playing hard.”

The Tigers fell behind 3-0 just one minute into the second period but rallied with two powerplay goals before the second intermission.

Nate Stadheim scored at 4:26 off an assist from Cody Haaland, and Haaland scored at 8:40 off an assist from Stadheim.

The Tigers played again for third place at 2:30 p.m. against Ashwaubenon, Wis.
