On Dec. 8, 9, and 10, the music of Mannheim Steamroller will fill the air of the Lighthouse Event Center of Albert Lea. These concerts will feature authentic arrangements of the group founded by Chip Davis and Jackson Berkey, but performed by local musicians. Brock Besse leads the group in the multiple roles of director, keyboard programmer and performer on recorders and keyboards. He is joined by Merle Krause, drums; Holly Dalager, oboe and English horn; Lilah Aas, keyboard; Jamie Kyllo, bass guitar; and Sue Radloff, violin.
Mannheim Steamroller’s signature sound uses distinctive, creative arrangements to bring new life to such familiar carols as “Deck the Halls” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.” Davis has said that his music is a rock ’n’ roll version of Renaissance music.
The concerts will be held at the Lighthouse Event Center, 621 Marshall St., Albert Lea. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Marshall Street Music, First Lutheran Church, Hy-Vee, and Stadheim Jewelers in Albert Lea; at Coffee House on Main in Austin, and at the door. Prices are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
