Marwood Isackson

Marwood died at his home, surrounded by his family, after a short struggle with leukemia. He was 86. Ike was born on May 28, 1925, in Milbank, S.D., the only child of Harry J. and Mabel (Anderson) Isackson. He graduated from Milbank High School and then entered into the service. He served the country in the U.S. Army from Nov. 17, 1943, until his honorable discharge in March of 1946. When he returned, he studied finance at the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, where he obtained his B.S. degree. Marwood married Eunice Lee on Sept. 3, 1950 in Volga, S.D., and they shared 61 years together. Their first home was in Sioux Falls, S.D., where sons David and Paul were born. In 1959, Ike and Eunice moved to Albert Lea where he worked for Scotsman and sons Mark and Steve were added to the family. Ike was transferred to Scotsman in Ann Arbor, Mich., where he worked for five years before returning to Albert Lea and retiring in 1989.

Marwood contributed much to the community including involvement in the Golden K, the Investment Club and serving terms on the Naeve Hospital Board, the board of directors for St. John’s Lutheran Home and most recently the Housing Development Board. He was active in First Lutheran Church and served on the endowment committee, as well as enjoying the Wednesday morning Bible study sessions. His daily “coffee club” at Nancy’s Café was something he always looked forward to. Ike’s hobbies included golfing, fishing and investments.
