Maybe it is time for the Postal Service in Albert Lea to take a good look at its drop box on the south side of the post office. It is easy to reach for people in pickups and SUVs, but it is more difficult for drivers of cars, such as sedans and station wagons, particularly for people without long arms. While waiting in line at the box, it is a typical sight to see elderly women struggling to reach the drop slot. Mail gets dropped on the ground, and then they must deal with the ice and snow they were trying to avoid in the first place. Frankly, who in Albert Lea hasn’t had this conversation? Perhaps two boxes of two levels would solve the problem.
