LANSING — The property owner of Lansing Corners, Dave Olson, said a deal with renter Kathy McKenzie never materialized.

McKenzie announced in October her plans to open Lansing Corners, a restaurant four miles north of Austin on Highway 218. McKenzie planned to turn the historic diner — which has been empty since 2008 — into a steakhouse catering to high-end customers, she said in October. McKenzie said at the time she hoped to open the restaurant in January or February, although she said construction could push back the opening.

Olson said the property is for sale or lease again.

“It’s back to the drawing board,” he said. “There are quite a few options that would work out there.”
