Albert Lea boys’ swimming and diving team lost to Mankato East Thursday at ALHS, 91-78.

Isaac Olson beat out Mankato East’s Jaden Thomson, Andrew Schultze and Tristan Schmidt for first place in the 500-yard freestyle by a long shot.

Olson finished in 5:40.48 with Thomson coming in second at 6:00.28.

The 200-meter medley relay team of Olson, Corbin Schultz, Preston Smith and Brody Sundblad took first place at 1:56.83 just ahead of East at 1:58.33.

Sundblad placed second in the diving event with 143.15 points. Kyle Zogg took third with 127.05 points.

Schultz finished the 200-yard individual medley just over a second after the Cougars’ Jack Adams took first at 2:26.94.

Smith swam 1:01.82 in the 100-yard freestyle to take second behind Mankato East’s Robert Schultze at 1:00.34.

Albert Lea’s next meet is against Mankato West at 6 p.m. Jan. 5 in Mankato.
