Wallace Charles Orth, 88, of Austin, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Wally was born April 10, 1923, in Austin, to Charles and Hazel (Furtney) Orth. He grew up and spent his life in and around Austin. On Sept. 30, 1950, he married Mavis Arline Wolf at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin. The couple resided in Austin where Wally worked for Hormel in the mechanical division from 1949 to 1986. Mavis preceded him in death on Aug. 18, 1989.

Wally enjoyed hunting in South Dakota and Montana, Canadian fishing trips and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his son, Mark and Michelle Orth, of Waconia; grandchildren: Jason and Sarah (Orth) MacDonald, of Sauk Centre, Adam and Annie Orth, of Belle Plaine, and Mike and Natalie (Orth) Fasching, of St. Bonifacius; great grandchildren: Noah, Alexander, Isabella and Lilah MacDonald, and Owen Orth.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mayer Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Forbes officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and also one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Wednesday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

The casket bearers will be Steve Baker, Jeff Orth, Brian Barnett, Bruce Bates, Craig Poshusta and Al Stark. The honorary casket bearers will be Steve Ruble, Charlie Crosby and Jack Sershen.
