AUSTIN — The Northwestern Singers, under the direction of Brock Besse, will present their annual winter show, “Timeless,” at 7 p.m. Jan. 21 and at 3 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Historic Paramount Theatre in Austin. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for students and are available at the Paramount, Hy-Vee in Austin, Marshall Street Music in Albert Lea, from any Northwestern Singer and at the door.
Join the choir as they take a journey through time performing songs that have endured through the ages such as “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “Power of Love,” “Dream A Little Dream,” Cole Porter songs and many more. A children’s chorus from Austin Elementary Schools will perform again at this concert. Complete with costumes, choreography and accompanied by a live orchestra ensemble, this will be a great show for all ages.
The Northwestern Singers are a group of men and women ranging in age from the 20s to the 70s from the Austin, Albert Lea and Rochester area who share a love of singing and performing. They present three major events each year. In addition to the winter show in January, their benefit concert, which includes area school youth choirs, is performed in November and has raised more than $33,000 for youth music programs in the past 11 years. The group also gives a scholarship to a Riverland Community College student. Their annual spring concert is performed each May.
