Clarice Christianson, 88, Northwood, Iowa

Clarice Marjorie Christianson, 88, of Northwood, Iowa, died on Thursday, Feb. 3, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood. Funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood, with the Rev. Karen Rossing Grandall officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Visitation is scheduled on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood.

Clarice was born on Sept. 24, 1923, to Fed and Matilda Anderson of Emmons. She graduated from Emmons High School in 1941. She worked at the Banquet restaurant in Albert Lea after high school where she learned a lot of her excellent cooking skills.

On Oct. 6, 1946, she was united in marriage to Tillman Christianson, and they celebrated 62 years of marriage together. She was a full time wife and homemaker. Clarice and Tillman always were found together, whether at work or leisure. She was active in church, ladies aid, circle and altar guild at Silver Lake Lutheran Church and was currently a member of First Lutheran Church in Northwood.

Clarice and Tillman farmed in Hartland Township and Worth County, Iowa for 50 years. Clarice enjoyed taking care of the chickens and gathering eggs. She was known to many as the egg lady because she delivered eggs around Northwood to different businesses.

After moving to Northwood, she worked for Northwood-Kensett Elementary school in the cafeteria, and also in the kitchen at the Northwood Lutheran Retirement Home for a number of years.

Clarice enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, polka dancing, listening to barbershop music and entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking many of her favorite dishes for family. She loved gardening and taking care of her flowers. She especially enjoyed playing games with the grand children.

Clarice was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Tillman. She is survived by her two sons: Tom and his wife Kathy (Leidal) Christianson and Ron and his wife Linda (Hanson) Christianson, both of Northwood. She has three grandchildren who are all married including: Tim (Sara) Christianson, Kim (Heath) Merz, and Erin (Phil) Bubb, and five great-grandchildren: Maddie Christianson; Gaven Merz; Max, Sam and Emmet Bubb. She is survived by two brothers: Howard (Joyce) Anderson of Goldfield, Iowa, and Robert (Leona) Anderson of Kiester, and five nieces and one nephew.
