Sixth-graders at Southwest Middle School worked with mural artist Greg Wimmer to design a mural. Work started in mid-January. Wimmer brainstormed with the students then created the design based on their ideas. The artist in residence project has been funded by a Perpich Center for the Arts grant and a grant from the Albert Lea Education Foundation. An open house for the public to view the mural was from 4 to 8 p.m. Feb. 9.
