4-H’ers compete at Share the Fun

Share the Fun is an annual event that many look forward to each year. More than 100 Freeborn County 4-H’ers performed on Feb. 26 in the Southwest Little Theatre. There were also numerous parents, family, friends, visitors and judges who were also in attendance for this talent-filled afternoon. The guests of 4-H were entertained by different readings, skits, singing, dancing, instrumentals, group musicals and some miscellaneous acts. The Freeborn County Ambassadors were the hosts and hostesses of the afternoon.

The winners in the vocal category were “Rolling in the Deep” by Liana Schallock from the Hayward 4-H Club and “If I Only Had A Brain” sung by Bethany Tennis and Alicia Louters both from the Hayward 4-H Club. In the instrumental category Julia Otten of the Hayward 4-H Club won with her piano solo. The alternate instrumental winners were “Piano Solo” by Nicole Wallin of the Hartland 4-H Club and “Banjo” by Seth Wagner of the Hayward Club.

“More Parts” by Louis Wagner of the Hayward 4-H Club was the readings category winner. The alternate reading was read by Pieter Louters of the Hayward 4-H Club titled “Miss O’Toople.” In the short play or skit category “I’m Glad I’m A 4-H’er” by the Myrtle 4-H Club and “Getting Ready for Fair” by the Mansfield 4-H Club were the winners.

“4-Hers Just Wanna Have Fun” performed by the Shell Rock 4-H Club won the miscellaneous category. Betsy and Addie Wagner from the Hayward 4-H Club were the alternate winners with their dance performance “NY 2 LA.” The group musical winner was “12 Day of County Fair” performed by the Hayward 4-H Club with the Conger 4-H Club coming in as the alternate with their group musical called “Lady BaaBaa & the Lambettes.”

The judges selected “12 Days of County Fair” by the Hayward 4-H Club and “Rolling in the Deep” by Liana Schallock as the Minnesota State Fair winners. The Best Props Award went to the Conger 4-H Club for their group musical “Lady BaaBaa & the Lambettes.” Most Creative Award was “4H’ers Just Want to Have Fun” by the Shell Rock 4-H Club. The Funny Bone Award went to “Mysterious Ticking Noise” performed by the Hartland Club. The 4-H Spirit Award went to Conger 4-H Club “Green 4-H Cap.” Most Talented Award went to Emily Goskeson of the Willing Workers 4-H Club with her dance entitled “You Say.”
