Freemond Madson Veterans of Foreign Wars

The Freemond Madson Veterans of Foreign Wars Aux. 447 met at 7 p.m. March 12 at the American Legion Hall with Vice President Marcia Petersen presiding.
The regular order of business was held with officers’ reports and chairmen directives read.
The delegates to the annual First VFW District convention were named. This is to be at Owatonna Post and Auxiliary 3723 on May 4 to 6. Special events on May 4 are a golf tournament and tours of Village of Yesteryear and the State School Orphanage Museum at 1 p.m. The actual convention is at 9 a.m. May 5. VFW post meets at the 3723 Post Home and the Ladies Auxiliary at the Steele County Community Center at the fairgrounds. Lunch is at noon at the post home.
Meeting resumes after lunch with election of new officers followed by the joint installation and later the Loyalty Day banquet.
Sunday there will be a parade at 1 p.m.
A donation of $100 was given to the local fireighters education program.
The Voice of Democracy title for the fall is “Is Our Consitution Still Relevant?” and the Patriot Pen theme is “What I Would Tell America’s Founding Fathers.” Marilyn Danielson is the chairwoman of these programs.
Betty Jones won the door prize.
Eunice Hatleli served lunch.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. April 9 at the Legion Hall. This is the annual election meeting. Please attend and be willing to take a position.
