ROCHESTER — A Rochester man is charged with two felonies following accusations he fatally kicked his girlfriend’s dog.
Court documents say Jarek Moen told investigators he kicked the 85-pound dog because it defecated in his girlfriend’s house. A necropsy at the University of Minnesota veterinary lab showed the dog had rib fractures, a lacerated liver and lungs and internal bleeding.
Moen is charged with two counts of mistreating animals. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 2 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
His first court appearance is scheduled for April 19.
