Funeral services for Laura B. Rayman, 87, of Albert Lea, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the East Freeborn Lutheran Church. The Rev. Matt Griggs will officiate. Burial will be at State Line Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church. Laura died Sunday morning at the Prairie Manor Retirement Center, Blooming Prairie.

Laura B. Rayman was born on Dec. 16, 1924, the daughter of Vern and Esther (Boone) Barber near Gordonsville. She attended country school District 35. Laura was united in marriage to Albert Schumacher on Oct. 3, 1942. She was employed at the Woolworth Lunch counter, Albert Lea Country Club and Wilsons/Farmstead Foods. After her retirement from Farmstead she worked at the Geneva Foods and Green Lea Golf Course. Laura married Richard Rayman on June 12, 1972, at First Lutheran Church, Glenville, where she was active in the Church activities. In 1978 Laura moved to a farm near Hollandale where she enjoyed teaching the preschool and vacation Bible School. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking. Laura was a gifted artist painting many oil paintings. Laura loved being outside working in her flower and vegetable gardens and golfing.

Survivors include her children: Marilyn (Don) Giles of Albert Lea, Warren (Cindy) Shumacher of Rippey, Iowa, and Kenneth (Jenne) Schumacher of Hollandale; grandchildren: Donna (Peter) Giles, Michael (Tammy) Giles, Martha (Craig) Carmichael, Matt Schumacher, Monica Schumacher, James Schumacher, Nathan (Amanda) Schumacher, Carol (Joe) Schumacher, Melissa (Aaron) Ondracek, William Ondracek, Shaun Ondracek and Jessica (Andrew) Bartes; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters: Shirley Giles and Mae Schnieder; sisters-in-law: Eldora Barber and Nyla Barber; and many nieces and nephews.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Carol Oakland, Ethel (Les) Hoffman and Phyllis (Miller) Jester; brothers: Lloyd, David and James (Dorothy) Barber; grandsons: Justin (J.T.) Schumacher and Frank Giles.
