Before their game against Owatonna on Tuesday, Tigers softball coach Dan Harms got his team fired up about a win for senior night.

It seemed to work in the first inning as the Tigers jumped out to a 5-0 lead.

Harms said hitting has been the team’s main focus during practice and it seemed to pay off, at least at first.

After the second inning though, Owatonna took the lead and kept it all the way to a 17-8 victory.

Harms said if it weren’t for the Tigers 13 errors they could have won the game.

“The errors were our enemy,” Harms said. “We scored enough runs to win, but our defense let us down.”

The Tigers will face New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva at 3:30 p.m. today at home and will play in a conference tournament in Austin on Friday. The tournament will begin at 4:30 p.m.
