Alice Schisler, 91, Owatonna

Alice L. Schisler, 91, of Owatonna died on Friday, May 11, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home in Owatonna with the rosary being recited at 2:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with an hour of visitation preceding the funeral at church. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Alice was born on Oct. 1, 1920, in Detroit Lakes to Henry & Catherine (Tracy) Henriksen. She was baptized in Callaway and when she was a child the family moved to Austin. Alice graduated from Austin High School in 1938. She married Lawrence Joseph “L. J.” Schisler on May 10, 1948, at St. Augustine Church in Austin. Alice worked at Hormel Foods from 1940 to 1945. She and her husband operated Schisler’s Store in Summit Township from 1948 to 1983.

She was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Litomysl, for 35 years. Alice’s greatest joy in life was found in her family; especially her grand and great-grandchildren. She was a member of The Guild & Better Homemakers.

Survivors include her five children, Mary Scott of Orangevale, Calif.; Bob (Theresa) Schisler of Owatonna; Theresa (Kenneth) Horecka of Clarks Grove; Jeanette (Steve) Graham of West Sacramento; Thomas (Clare) Schisler of Woodbury ; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; her siblings, Almond Henriksen; Gertrude Conway; Catherine MacLaren; Robert Henriksen & son-in-law, Armando Scott.
