Dollars for scholars

The Freeborn County Commissioners recently awarded five Freeborn County high school seniors with $500 scholarships. The scholarships were provided by Diamond Jo Casino and each student was presented with an award during the commissioners’ regular board meeting on May 15. Freeborn County Administrator John Kluever said this was the fifth year of the program and based on past success, he is looking forward to a continued partnership with Diamond Jo Casino. In the back row from the left are commissioners Jim Nelson, Glen Mathiason, Dan Belshan, Christopher Shoff and Mike Lee. In the front row from the left are students Annabelle Randall of Albert Lea High School, Ana Guenther of Alden–Conger High School, Ashley Tewes of Albert Lea High School, Matthew Buhr of Albert Lea High School and Rahni Davis of Glenville-Emmons High School.
