Kensett man dies after tractor rollover

KENSETT, Iowa — A 29-year-old rural Kensett man was found dead Monday morning, pinned underneath his tractor in a ditch west of this community.

According to a news release from the Worth County Sheriff’s Office, the man was driving the tractor north on Ironwood Avenue south of 400th Street when he drove into the ditch, rolling over and pinning him underneath.

The incident reportedly took place sometime late Sunday evening, but he was not found until shortly before 7 a.m. Monday by a passerby.

The Mason City Globe Gazette listed the man’s name as Shawn Thompson, according to a death notice from Conner Colonial Chapel of Northwood.

Assisting on scene was Manly Fire and Rescue, Hanlontown Fire and Rescue, Fertile Fire and Rescue, Forest City Ambulance and Iowa State Patrol.

The crash remains under investigation.
