ST. PAUL — The Ramsey County attorney’s office says it can’t immediately investigate a corporation created to pay for the Republican Party’s recount in the 2010 gubernatorial race.
The government watchdog group Common Cause Minnesota has filed complaints against Count Them All Properly Inc.
Common Cause asked Ramsey County Attorney John Choi to investigate the possibility of forgery or fraud in setting up the corporation and whether it violated campaign finance laws.
The organization has repeatedly denied wrongdoing.
Assistant County Attorney John Kelly replied in a letter Friday he would need police to investigate first and a victim would need to file a complaint.
